Do unused ChatGPT credits roll over after my Codex weekly reset?
Yes. Your weekly Codex/Work allowance reset does not erase unused purchased credits. OpenAI uses your included plan allowance first after the reset, and your remaining credit balance is available again if you later exhaust that allowance.
What matters
- Purchased credits are a pay-as-you-go add-on; they do not replace your included plan allowance.
- OpenAI says included usage is consumed first, then eligible activity draws from your credit balance.
- Purchased usage credits are valid for 12 months from purchase.
What this means in practice
Example: if you buy 500 credits, use 180 before your weekly reset, and have 320 left, the 320 do not disappear at the reset. Your refreshed included allowance is used first. If you hit the limit again later, the remaining credits can be used.
