Can an existing ChatGPT user qualify for a ChatGPT Desktop referral?
Possibly. OpenAI says some offers may allow existing ChatGPT users if they are new to ChatGPT Desktop or have no recent qualifying Desktop activity. Other offers may exclude them.
What matters
- Invitee eligibility is offer-specific.
- A lookback period for recent Desktop activity may apply.
- Only the first qualifying referral may count if a person receives multiple referral invites.
What this means in practice
Do not promise someone they will qualify. Send the official invitation and let the OpenAI redemption flow determine eligibility for that campaign.
