Can I buy Codex credits on ChatGPT Free or Go?
Possibly. If your Free or Go account is eligible, you may see “Add credits” after reaching a Work or Codex limit or in Usage settings.
What matters
- Availability varies by account, region and plan.
- Buying credits does not upgrade the Free or Go plan or increase its included allowance.
- These usage credits are not API credits.
What this means in practice
If “Add credits” does not appear, OpenAI says purchases may not be available to that account yet. Do not assume every Free or Go account has the same purchase options.
