How do ChatGPT Desktop referral credit promotions work?
The reward is not granted just because you send an invitation. OpenAI says the invitee must accept the referral, meet the eligibility rules, complete the qualifying Desktop action and pass the required checks.
What matters
- Referral rewards vary by account, plan, region and promotion.
- Benefits may include usage credits, rate-limit resets, temporary additional usage or another benefit described in the offer.
- Self-invites, duplicate redemptions and attempts to evade eligibility are excluded.
What this means in practice
Treat the exact offer shown inside your ChatGPT Desktop app as authoritative. The public help article describes general rules, but the current reward, cap, cooldown and expiration can vary by campaign.
